Sheriff Leroy D. Baca and Sheriff's Youth Foundation announced that they will be honoring Ryan Kavanaugh, founder and CEO of Relativity Media, LLC, at its 23rd Annual "Salute to Youth" benefit on Thursday, April 24th. Ryan Kavanaugh has been a very active supporter of the Sheriff's Youth Foundation, as well as many other charities including the Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, First Star, the Art of Elysium and he is also on the board of the Jewish Television Network with board member Michael Lynton.

Gerard Butler will be presenting Ryan Kavanaugh with the Sheriff Leroy D. Baca Community Champion Award for his contribution to the support and development of the foundation that will be awarded by Sheriff Baca. The mission of the foundation is to offer at-risk youth in economically underprivileged neighborhoods the opportunity to grow and develop the tools needed to succeed in life. Honorary co-chairs for the Sheriff's Youth Foundation include Mark Canton, Jon Feltheimer, Leslie Kavanaugh and Jack Kavanaugh, Matthew Kavanaugh, Andrew Marcus, Mary Parent, Marc Shmuger, Harry Sloan, Tucker Tooley, Jason Weinberg, Harvey Weinstein and Jim Wiatt.

All proceeds from the event go to the Sheriff's Youth Foundation which was established to raise money for underprivileged young people in Los Angeles County. American Idol Alum Bo Bice and Dwight Yoakam will be performing.

"We are thrilled to be honoring Ryan this year. He is very dedicated to helping children and has become a very important member of the Sheriff's Youth Team," said Sheriff Baca.

The mission of the Sheriff's Youth Foundation is to offer at-risk youth in economically underprivileged neighborhoods the opportunity to grow and develop the tools needed to succeed in life. Young people in the Foundation's program interact with positive role models from the Sheriff's Department and the local community in activities that contribute to strengthening character and self-esteem, building a positive view of the future, and gain the confidence needed to resist negative influences.

Ryan has also been honored recently by Habitat for Humanity during the closing ceremonies of the Jimmy Carter Work Project in Los Angeles. He recently became co-chair of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles "Building a Greater L.A." campaign to build or renovate 250 homes in the next three years along with Honorary co-chairs California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Ryan is also working diligently with Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters and every year hosts "Magic of the Match" carnival held at Camp Max Straus. He will be launching a drama program for Camp Max Strauss as well. For many years now Ryan has been a champion of children's causes, lending a helping hand where one is so desperately needed and using his position in the Hollywood limelight to direct attention to these worthy causes.
