It was like, ‘he’s going to be a dad and he’s going to have twins! Watch this, this is going to be a circus’,” the 40-year-old actor said in a statement.

"Last year, I took a long trip through India and when you are going through places like Jaipur, nobody cares who you are. I was in the country for about five weeks but in the three weeks I was away from the big cities, I don't think I was recognised once and that definitely makes life a lot easier," Butler said in a statement.

“I feel like I work so hard when I make movies, and I often think I work harder than anyone I’ve worked with—or at least as hard. And yet when I do the interviews, I like to have fun. I’ve often said to my publicists, ‘Should I not be so light?’ because perhaps people take it less seriously and think I haven’t put in the work or taken the role as seriously as I have,” says Butler. “You hope people actually see when they watch you on-screen—whether it’s a comedy or a drama or a musical—the effort you put in.”

Gerry ci racconta come ha imparato a flirtare a 14 anni

How Gerard Butler first learned to flirt

We're not surprised to hear that Gerard Butler, with his legion of admiring fans, learned how to flirt at a young age.

It all happened when the Scottish actor was "third year" in school - which would be about 14 years old, he told CNN.

“[T]here was a girl ... she was running up the stairs and I said something and I let it linger...something like 'Oh really? Well, we'll see,'" the 43-year-old said.

"And I just kept looking at her and she looked at me and there was this moment, and suddenly my heart jumped and I could tell that it did that with her, too! And I went...OK, that's flirting. And that works! And that's exciting!"

"It's just that nice moment where you give them an extra smile, especially with women," Butler continued. "That seems to be my memory of the first moment when I learned how to flirt - you know, have an effect on women like that.”

Gerard Butler’s Favorite Mistake: Embarrassment in Iceland

A lot of my life lessons have come out of sillier things. Another funny moment happened in 2005 when I was playing a Viking in the very low-budget indie movie Beowulf & Grendel. We filmed in this little Icelandic town called Höfn that was right on the edge of a glacier. The weather was awful. We had hurricanes, torrential rains, and
it was freezing. I was in every scene and had to stand on top
of these glaciers or be out in the Icelandic sea.

The tiny 10-bedroom hotel that we were staying at was on the outskirts of town. They had a restaurant that, as far as I was concerned, never seemed to be open. We were out filming from six in the morning till at least eight in the evening. And when I came home at the end of every shoot I was famished.

I thought, Here we are making movies—this is not the way it’s supposed to be. But I dealt with it. And a few days later, I heard there was a conference in the hotel. So I thought the restaurant might finally be open. We didn’t have a proper lunch that day. I hadn’t eaten in nine hours. When I got home I could have eaten a horse.

I saw a lady standing outside the restaurant and asked, “Is there any way we can get some food? Anything?!” She said it was closed. I begged: “Something! Just let me grab something. I swear to God I’m going to die here.”

Then out of the door comes this man in a suit and a tie. I run over to him thinking that he’s the manager of the hotel and say, “Please, listen, is there any way you can open this restaurant or just give me something? Can I just have a ham-and-cheese sandwich?”

He looks at me deadpan. Perturbed. He said he didn’t work there and left.

When I turned around, the producer of the movie was shocked, her head in her hands. In my desperation I had begged Iceland’s minister of agriculture for a ham-and-cheese sandwich.

If you’re ever going to a small country, any country, it’s probably good to get some intel on the local politicians. Knowing who is in the local mafia, or mob, or Yakuza can help avoid scenarios like mine. Now that I’m a big star, I just make sure that wherever I’m about to go they build a full-size hotel properly equipped with 24-hour restaurants, diners, and even casinos. Not really. If anything, it taught me some common sense.

"It's going good. I'm happier and calmer than I've been for a long time. These days I'm more zen and that's an easier way to exist."

Gerard Butler Had Holiday From Hell in Himalayas

Gerard Butler has revealed he had the worst trip of his life to the Himalayas. after he got seriously sick from drinking contaminated water from the Ganges River.

The 'Olympus Has Fallen' actor loves globe-trotting in between breaks from his film career, although contracting severe food-poisoning on a camping trip in the mountain range nearly put him off travelling for life.

He recalled: "We went up into the Himalayas and I drank water from the Ganges River. We hiked up to the top of this mountain and I got sick - and I mean sick. I ended up getting sick for a month.

"The water looks fresh up there but what I didn't realise is that, upstream, there's villagers pissing and s****ing in it. We camped on top of the mountain ... I'm up all night s****ing and throwing up, with a massive Himalayan thunderstorm going on. It felt like the whole world was exploding.

"Finally the next morning they had to bring me down on a donkey, and in the heat and the smell, I had to get off and walk. It was the most awful experience."
