E qui ce n'è un'altro... è periodo di chiacchiere...

It’s like The Hunt for Red October, but with Gerard Butler. (Hunter Killer)

Dark Horizons reports that the Texas Killing Fields actor is in talks to play Joe Glass, a captain of a submarine a group of navy seals are using to go after an admiral in Russia attempting to launch a coup.

Ancora non è iniziata l'avventura nel sottomarino, che già cominciano i problemi...Pare che il regista abbia già defezionato ...

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Phillip-Noy...ller-26357.html

We recently reported on rumors that 300 and Machine Gun Preacher star Gerard Butler was contemplating playing the captain of a Navy SEAL team in the submarine thriller Hunter Killer. But if he ends up grabbing the role, he’ll be working for a different director than initially planned.

Phillip Noyce, director of two Tom Clancy adaptations and last summer’s Angelina Jolie vehicle Salt, has passed on Killer because it’s too close in size and scope to films he has made in the past, Moviehole reports. Noyce instead will choose between the love story Timeless or a thriller Above Suspicion, the latter of which was penned by Golden Globe nominee Chris Gerolmo (Mississippi Burning).

Now Relativity Media has to head back to the drawing board if they’d like to keep Killer on track for its previously announced Dec. 21, 2012 release date. The movie's an adaptation of Don Keith and George Wallace’s novel Firing Point, which has been optioned by producer Neil Moritz’s Original Films. Having Butler on board for the story – which sees the SEALs heading into Russian territory to prevent the launch of World War III – would help a director to hit the ground running.

But Noyce’s experience in the genre would have helped elevate Killer, so I hope the studio can find a filmmaker with a similar skill set who could turn this from a run-of-the-mill soldier thriller into something special. Tony Scott comes to mind (though this might be too similar to his Crimson Tide). Kathryn Bigelow also comes to mind, especially if she can bring Jeremy Renner with her-- but she's already got her own SEAL project Kill Bin Laden going. At this point it's all speculation. We’ll see if Noyce’s departure halts the project’s forward progress, or if Relativity can plug in a replacement and keep moving.

le voci su Hunter Killer invece appaiono sempre più concrete... a me non dispiacerebbe affatto un film di questo genere!!!

http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/2011/10/20/gerar...-hunter-killer/

Although he has occasionally showcased his softer side with P.S. I Love You, Nim’s Island and The Ugly Truth, Gerard Butler’s action hero credentials are now firmly established. With 300, Law Abiding Citizen, Gamer and Machine Gun Preacher all on his CV, producers clearly see him as a go to guy for anything robust and physical.
It is very much in that vein that we seem likely to find Butler, for Hunter Killer. The film, based on an upcoming novel Firing Point, is about the inexperienced captain of a US submarine who teams up with a US Navy SEALS team to rescue the Russian President, who has been captured during a coup.
Butler is said to be currently considering the role of the submarine captain and apparently Sam Worthington is considering a role as the leader of the SEALS. That would give us Leonidas alongside Perseus, which is different.
A December 2012 release date is being eyed for Hunter Killer, so everyone is going to have to get their skates on. Philip Noyce was lined up to direct, though Antoine Fuqua’s name is now being bounced around. With a little over a year to complete the whole project, it is surely decision-making time for him.

Secondo questo articolo dello scorso novembre(tradotto dal francese) se tutto andrà in porto il film verrà girato nel Quebec(Canada) in estate e le riprese dovrebbero durate tra i 30 e i 50 giorni :D

Two large American turnings in Quebec? On November 10, 2011 The great area of Quebec could accomodate the turning of two large American productions in 2012: a film carried out by Steven Spielberg and another which wishes to settle with the maritime building sites Davie and which would put in the high-speed motorboat Sam Worthington and Gerald Butler. If the project is concretized, the team of "Hunter Killer", political a thriller equipped with a budget of 70 million dollars, would unload in Levis the next summer, for one period varying between thirty and fifty days. According to the big boss of the Studios Mel' S, Michel Trudel, representatives of the production company Relativity Media (which made film "White-Snow" to Montreal, earlier this year) will go to Levis during the two next weeks in order to go to inspect the places. They are in location. If they find that which they need, they will remain, said Michel Trudel. According to Web site specialized IMDB, it is Antoine Fuqua (Day of formation, King Arthur) which is had a presentiment of to carry out "Hunter Killer", which will be the adaptation of the novel "Firing Point", in front of being published in 2012. The actors Gerald Butler and Sam Worthington (Misadventure) would be strongly considered to hold the two main roles. Spielberg in the test card On its side, the Office of the great events of Quebec tries to attract, for one day or two of external turning, the team of next science fiction film of Steven Spielberg, a megaproduction of 200 million dollars which will be turned to Montreal, from July to September 2012. So of the scenes can tally with what we have to offer to Quebec, it is possible that they come to make a turn here. The office tendered in this direction. If Mr. Spielberg wants to come here, I think that one has beautiful things to show him, said the municipal advisor Julie Lemieux, person in charge of the files related to the culture with the Town hall of Quebec. According to Michel Trudel, a decision of the producers of film of Spielberg is awaited from here two weeks. The American scenario writer knows already the area to have turned a scene of film.Stops there me if you can, in 2002, with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Pare che stiano considerando l'Alaska come luogo dove girare il film...

Gerard Butler submarine thriller 'Hunter Killer' applies to film in Alaska

A big-budget military thriller about an American submarine captain's attempt to rescue the Russian president will soon be pre-approved for filming in Alaska, the state says.
The Relativity Media film, currently called "Hunter Killer," is in the planning stages. Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day,” “Shooter") is expected to direct with Gerard Butler (“300”) in talks to star, Variety reports.
A producer for the film has described the movie as a $50 million to $100 million project. In other words: Two or three times the size of "Big Miracle."
The state film office received the producers' request to pre-qualify "Hunter Killer" for the Alaska film incentive about a month ago, said Wanetta Ayers, director of the state Economic Development Division.
The state will likely approve the application soon, she said. “It would be the largest incentive ever awarded under the program."
"We just approved, or are in the beginning stages of approval, for four or five applications, including two feature films," Ayers said.
A pre-qualification does not mean that the movie will definitely shoot in Alaska. A spokeswoman for Relativity declined to comment for this story. Producers have also applied to film in other locations, according to the company.
As always, plans for filming locations -- and even whether the movie will be made -- could change at any moment.

The "Hunter Killer" script is based on the novel “Firing Point,” by George Wallace and Don Keith, according to Variety:

“(The) story follows an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue Russia's president, who's taken prisoner during a military coup. The two sides team to stop a rogue Russian general from igniting WWIII."

Butler was in talks to play the commander of the USS Toledo, the trade magazine reported.
A producer on the film, Jeff Waxman, told the Daily News this month that he hoped to make an action-thriller in Alaska. Filming would begin later this year, he said.
Waxman said he toured Whittier and other Alaska locations in January. "They rolled out the red carpet for us,” he said of the isolated, waterside town.
He declined to name the film or talk about the plot at the time, but said the state film incentive, now under debate, was key to the project. “’Big Miracle’ went up there and ‘Frozen Ground,’ but this would be a bigger movie,” he said. “And if we can pull it off, which I think we can, people would want to come back.”
Anchorage production company SprocketHeads is working with the film-makers and will be handling all local questions about the project, said owner Carolyn Robinson. She declined to talk in detail about the film.
“I am elated and proud!” Robinson wrote in an email. “We'll be posting approved Hunter Killer updates on the SprocketHeads Facebook site.”

Release Dates: Warner Bros. Moves ‘The Seventh Son’ and ‘Beautiful Creatures’, ‘Robot & Frank’ Dated, ‘Hunter Killer’ Bumped

[...]
Over at Relativity, director Antoine Fuqua now has one less deadline to worry about. His Hunter Killer, which had been scheduled for a December 21, 2012 opening, has now been pulled off the schedule altogether. Gerard Butler has been lined up to play a submarine captain Joe Glass since last fall, while Sam Worthington‘s been circling the part of a Navy SEAL. The story sees the characters teaming up to rescue the president of Russia, who’s been taken prisoner in a military coup, in an attempt to stop World War III.
