Geoffrey Rush has closed a deal to join Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gerard Butler in Summit's epic fantasy Gods of Egypt.

Alex Proyas is directing the project, whose story is set in motion when one ruling god, Set, kills another, Osiris. When Osiris' son Horus fails in his attempt to get revenge, and has his eyed plucked out, it's up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the mad god.

i giornali ormai danno Gerry sicuramente nel progetto...e annunciano un nuovo giovane attore,che dovrebbe interpretare il ladro di cui si servirà il dio,e scopriamo che le riprese dovrebbero cominciare l'anno prossimo(si,ma quando??) in Australia


Rapidly rising Aussie star Brenton Thwaites, 24, has joined the cast of Alex Proyas‘ mythological epic “Gods Of Egypt,” according to Deadline. The Summit Entertainment production will also star Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Geoffrey Rush.

“Gods Of Egypt” tells the story of a competing family of gods. After Set (Butler) kills his brother Osiris, his nephew Horus (Coster-Waldau) makes it his quest to avenge the death of his father. With the help of the goddess Hathor and a human thief named Bek (Thwaites), Horus aims to defeat Set and ultimately, his grandfather Ra (Rush). The script was written by “Dracula Untold” duo Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. Filming starts next year in Australia.

Courtney Eaton Joins Gods of Egypt

The main female role of a slave girl in Gods of Egypt has gone to Aussie actress Courtney Eaton, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR says the newcomer will star opposite Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Summit's fantasy film to be directed by Alex Proyas (Knowing, I, Robot).

Eaton's only other film credit is the 2015 sci-fi action film Mad Max: Fury Road with Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult.

Filming will be taking place in Australia on Gods of Egypt which has Coster-Waldau playing sky god Horus and Butler playing Set, the god who caused the death of Horus' father.

E' lotta tra la produzione e i tecnici australiani che dovranno lavorare sul set, perchè stanno cercando le stesse condizioni previste per il film 'Unbroken' di Angelina Jolie che, sostiene il sindacato, comporterà tagli significativi per gli straordinari, carichi di notte e il tempo di viaggio.


La loro offerta è stata messa ai voti da 27 membri dell'equipe che sono stati impiegati in pre-produzione del film, che dovrebbe iniziare le riprese il 24 marzo a Sydney o Melbourne.

Mal Tulloch, direttore della Entertainment Crew e sezione Sport della Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance, racconta che in 20 hanno votato a favore e sette contro.
Dice che il sindacato si opporrà all'accordo, perché le condizioni si applicano a tutto il personale impiegato sul film, "La maggior parte delle persone che lavorano al film non avrà voce in capitolo nelle loro condizioni", dice.
I produttori sostengono che l'offerta complessiva è giusta e hanno bisogno di trovare un accordo ora per dare certezze agli investitori e di rispettare il calendario di produzione.

Il MEAA dice che il budget è di più di $ 100 milioni. Ma il sindacato dice che non c'è stato alcun miglioramento nello straordinario quotidiano dopo 12 ore, o carichi di notte. "L'accordo si snoda di nuovo i tassi di penalizzazione che impediscono alle persone di lunghe ore di lavoro", dice Tulloch. "Pensiamo che sia un passo indietro."
Il MEAA ritiene che i produttori stanno cercando di fissare nuovi standard, più bassi per big-budget film australiani e non è opportuno sollevare un polverone simile per produzioni che stanno ricevendo un incentivo fiscale del 40% per girare in Australia.

Iwanyk: It's like the Egyptian -- the simplest way to say it, because it's the Egyptians myths, is the world is a lot more through the eyes of Alex Proyas, so it's a lot more fantastical. We call it "Planet Egypt." We're shooting the entire thing on green screen in Sydney. But it'll be photo-real green screen, not stylized like 300. People will wonder, like, "Where the hell did you shoot that?" And it's a lot more of an adventure movie, like The Thief of Bagdad, those old movies. Clash was a very serious movie. Gods of Egypt I think is a lot more Raiders and Pirates than it is those movies. But it's an incredible world. So yeah, that goes on March 23rd.
