We just found slipped under our door the DVD art for GAMER, the Gerard Butler-led action flick that came out only a month ago. It will hit the home video market on JANUARY 19th, 2010. We've also got the info on what you can expect (other than the movie itself, of course). Is it just me or does it look more like the cover for a video game than a DVD? Maybe that's the point..?

Extras on the DVD will include an audio commentary with Writers/Directors Neveldine/Taylor and actors Amber Valletta, Alison Lohman, and Terry Crews, an Inside the Game multi-part making-of documentary, a First Person Shooter: The Evolution of Red featurette, and a never before seen theatrical trailer that was cut for the film by the filmmakers but ultimately deemed too radical for audiences.

In case you don't recall, GAMER stars Gerard Butler as Kable, condemned criminal and globally famous super-soldier in the ultimate multiplayer game, "Slayers." Human controllers direct each thought and move of real-life prison inmates battling in hyper-intense environments - where the goal is freedom and the penalty is death. But when Kable suddenly decides he wants out, his rebellion threatens the twisted plans of game creator Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall, TV's "Dexter") who will stop at nothing to crush the renegade commando in this taut, adrenaline-packed action-thriller.

The flick is an unusual item. It's a subversive, borderline-psychotic satire bursting with ideas trapped in the body of a Hollywood star vehicle. The two don't mix easily, but it's still pretty fascinating to watch... if you can handle it.
