Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, Matthew McConaughey Team Up for Iraq War Pic 'Thunder Run'

Simon West is set to direct Freedom Films' motion-capture action thriller.


Lather up the beefcake! Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington and Matthew McConaughey are teaming up for Thunder Run, an all CG 3D action thriller being made by Freedom Films.
Simon West is set to direct, according to Freedom Film, while Hyde Park International is handling international sales.
The movie is adapting the novel Thunder Run - The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad, by Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent David Zucchino and Mark Bowden. Robert Port, who won an Oscar in 2003 for best short documentary, and Ken Nolan, who co-wrote Black Hawk Down, penned the script.

The project aims to recount the capture of Baghdad by American forces at the start of the Iraq War in 2003. The three-day assault was referred as a “lightning strike” or “thunder run.” The producers want to paint “the harrowing picture of the soldiers on the front lines and the realities of modern warfare.”
The Graphic Film Company has been tapped to utilize proprietary facial-capture technology it used on West’s upcoming Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D movie along with the motion capture technology used in Avatar, said Freedom Films.
Producing are Freedom Films’ Brian Presley, along with the company’s Carissa Buffel and Kevin Matusow as well as Jib Polhemus of the Graphic Film Company.
The trio's work will consist mostly of voicework but there will be green-screen aspects as well.
“What we capture in our cameras will be them,” Presley told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’ll have a stylized effect to it but we are shooting them. We’re not ageing them down like Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy, it’ll be them for two hours in a highly intense tank battle.

“The scope of the movie is going to feel huge and thegoal is to appeal to the Call of Duty world. It’s not going to have a video game world feel but to have a stylized look to it.

"We’re locked and loaded and will shoot next year."
Thunder Run is repped by Gersh and CAA. Gersh also reps Freedom Films.
Butler is repped by CAA and Alan Siegel Entertainment, Worthington by CAA and Anonymous Content, McConaughey by CAA and attorney Kevin Morris. West is also repped by CAA.

Un film sull'Iraq in caption motion per Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington e Matthew McConaughey

Oramai si ha la certezza, il regista Simon West ha avuto il via libera per sviluppare il suo progetto in ballo da qualche anno, il titolo del film sarà Thunder Run, la storia sarà tratta dal romanzo di Mark Bowden.
Per realizzare questo film il regista conta di avere tre stelle di altissimo tasso qualitativo quali Sam Worthington, Gerard Butler e Matthew McConaughey, la cosa più bella però sta nel fatto che il film sarà girato completamente in CGI.

I tre attori ad un passo dalla firma dovranno infatti recitare in caption motion, in pratica cosi come accaduto con Avatar di James Cameron, il motivo è da ricavare dal fatto che il regista si è innamorato della visione di gioco e della grafica di uno dei videogame sulla guerra più venduti della storia, vale a dire Call of Duty.
Thunder Run narrerà di una delle battaglie sostenute dagli americani in Iraq più sanguinose dall'inizio alla fine della competizione bellica che ha portato successivamente alla cattura di Saddam Houssein.
A produrre il film ci sarà Brian Presley per la Freedom Film,Carissa Buffel e Kevin Matusow; per il momento non c'è una data di inizio riprese o conferme da parte dei tre interessati, anche se la maggior parte dei siti cinematografici americani danno l'accordo per fatto, al momento che avrò qualcosa di più certo vi aggiornerò su questo progetto veramente interessante.

Comunque a me questo film non convince molto...

Quoto e straquoto Ariel...temo solo che essendo storia recente, per non dire attuale non tutti gli addetti ai lavori (registi, produttori e autori) sappiano maneggiare la materia con la giusta cautela...Spesso si rischia di "pasticciare"

Questo Thunder Run non mi ispira proprio...ho l'impressione che abbiamo messo insieme 3 "bonazzi" solo per fare botteghino....come al solito

Purtroppo spero sempre di vederlo lavorare con un grandissimo regista al fianco magari di attori del calibro di De Niro.....accadrà mai??

Oddio anche io penso la stessa cosa, non mi convince per niente spero di essere smentita...

SIMON WEST non è il regista di Tomb Raider??
Mmmmmhhh non mi piace.....è capace di fare di questo film un video game!
